In 1935, raising the five 504 Trusses on the Bay Bridge involved driving hundreds of piles into the Bay. Today, lowering those massive steel trusses on the old span is more environmentally friendly, without piles, but also more complex.

Every year, hundreds of high school students from all over the Bay Area apply for intern jobs at MTC. By their own account, they learn an incredible amount during their internship.
MTC will be taking applications for its high school internship program soon. High school kids from all over the Bay Area apply in droves because they will learn so much they can get a jump on future jobs.
