On hand for the May 2, 2017, ribbon-cutting for the new Vista Point on Yerba Buena Island was a trio of MTC Commissioners, including Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, San Francisco Supervisor Jane Kim and Caltrans District 4 Director Bijan Sartipi. The $2 million project was funded jointly by MTC and the San Francisco County Transportation Authority. Located at the west end of the Bay Bridge East Span bicycle/pedestrian path, Vista Point boasts a panoramic view of the bay, the East Span and East Bay communities. Amenities for bicyclists and pedestrians include benches, restrooms and water fountains.
